Knotty by nature? Come visit SoBe Calm’s newest massage therapist, Simone.
A native of Mississippi and a graduate of the Florida College of Natural Health, Simone first discovered her talent for massage therapy at the age of five, when she helped alleviate her father’s lower back pain by walking on his back. Inspired by a high school teacher who was transitioning into massage therapy full time, Simone enrolled at the Florida College of Natural Health, where she earned her A.S. degree in Advanced Massage Therapy, along with a certifications in Neuromuscular and sports massage therapies, and graduated at the top of her class. Upon graduation, Simone worked at a wellness clinic and two luxury spas: the Williams Island Spa & Tennis Club and Canyon Ranch Miami Beach.
This month, SoBe Calm scooped her up and enlisted her to join the team. Step into her treatment room, and you’ll want to maker her a part of your family too!
What puts her massages in a class that other therapists just can’t touch? Simone has excellent tactile skills and is easily able to differentiate between the different types of tissue: skin, inflammations, scar tissue, adhesions, knots and fascia (a layer of fibrous tissues that surrounds your muscles, bones, organs, nerves and blood vessels). This skill for palpitation—a technical term for using the sense of touch to physically examine the tissues of the body—allows her to locate the trigger points associated with muscle pain and alleviate or eliminate the stress by applying pressure.
